Paulo Maló was born in Namibe, one of Angola's 18 provinces.
He moved to Portugal in the 1960s to study dentistry in Lisbon. He graduated from the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the University of Lisbon in 1989.
In 1993, together with his medical and clinical research team, he began to develop the All-on-4 technique.
